The Bosnian War raged from 1992 to 1995.
During the conflict, over 300,000 Bosniak civilians were executed during a mass ethnic cleansing that was described as the worst war atrocity since WWII. Mirsad Solakovic survived these events as a child.
This is his story.
"The Boy Who Said Nothing" is Solakovic’s poetic account of the Bosnian and Herzegovinian tragedy. From his own devastating childhood experiences of war in the former Yugoslavia, to his views of hope and peace for the future as an adult, this conceptual collection of poems describes the horrific crimes which occurred across his homeland as well as his own mental struggle. Solakovic’s account of the heroes, villains, and horrors of civil war is balanced by his unique vision for the world; a true survivor’s perspective.

I read the book very clear accounf of the events that happened in Bosnia on our doorstep in Europe. Cleverly presented through Poetry. I share the same history, similar story and it has moved me in a negative as well as positive way. I do enjoy the end as the writer looks at the positive World and he is trying to unite our thought and actions againt the Evil invaders! I would definitely recommend this book to be in Educational sector to teach our children about the Bosnian history never to happen again! I would simply give it 5* and reccomend this book from: (child age to old age.)Product details

The Boy Who Said Nothing Mirsad Solakovic 9781542771368 Books Reviews
This book is amazing! It is very powerful! Pain is temporary and you can overcome. Our pain can be a platform to strengthing others. This guy really inspired me and i will write a song about it!
I thourougly enjoyed reading this book. It gave me food four thought for a better World. I have recommended this poetry book to my daughter and she has enjoyed reading it. She has shared her views with her friends in school and children are inspired for a better World. I would strongly recommend this book to children in a High school. Children are future and they can change our World and make a better place for our future generations.
I truly enjoyed reading this book. I can relate to the feelings the author describes. He also mentions moments and memories from his childhood that were interrupted by these terrible events. It is very interesting how children feel when they experience tragedy and pain but aren't able to express it until they grow up. Great book!
Amazing book,....I highly recommend this book to all readers! I lived through the war and I had a similar experiences. This book clearly defines inner thoughts and emotions about children's experiences in the war and how it affected them. I will encourage all my children to read this book, as it is written through poetry and it's easy access. It will also teach other children how hard it was during the war in Bosnia and some of us had more difficult cards to deal with than others. When we talk about our children experiences, it is ultimate pain and sorrow and it demolishes our inner heart feelings.
Great book Well written and brought thru the eyes of the writer
Mirsad's poetry was the perfect words to read on my Easter Sunday. I hear songs in his poems.
