Try high county mule deer, it's a much better book! This book did not do it for me at all.
Collyer is a trophy hunter not a glamour puss. In this book, he shares experience, insight and a skill set he has honed through many years of hunting the North American mule deer. He has a really good understanding of mule deer and their habits and effectually, how to better your chances with this knowledge.
This is simply a book I could not put down.
If you love spending time out in the woods hunting mule deer like I do then this book is for you. There is nothing complicated about Jim's style of hunting that's produced excellent results. This is a must read for any avid hunter.
It is clear the author has spent significant experience hunting mule deer as this book is not a compilation of information gleaned from reading the works of other writers. This book has much to offer the experienced hunter and does not waster chapters on weapons, clothing, gear and hunting aids. A very worthwhile read.
I fell like I stole some hard earned experience from Jim. Worth every penny and then some. I couldn't stop highlighting for my journal. Thanks Mr. Collyer.
Good book. Good hints and great mindset suggestion. Think this will help with hunting success. Recommended for muley freaks everywhere.
I enjoyed the book however it was less informative than I hoped for. But I found and read some good nuggets of information which made it worth the money and time. Fair warning it is a little difficult with the transitions he makes but other than those two complaints I would still recommend the book.
I have mixed feelings about this book. I think the author goes over the deep end in the first section of the book particularly where he discusses whether or not a deer can read your mind. Why he would choose to write about human electromagnetic fields is way beyond me. As result, I was ready to stop reading the book. But then he gets into hunting methods and techniques. His writing and descriptions were excellent and worth reading. There are many nuggets of useful information in the book, even in the first section such as what deer feed on and how deer behave. Thus, I would recommend reading the book but beware of the frequent occasions when the author is way over the edge of what is reasonable.
